We’ve all heard this expression haven’t we? Well at least if you have been in Network Marketing for more than 5 minutes’ you have, right? But what does it really mean and how can you maximise doing this to turbocharge your results? Let’s dive in and find out …
I don’t know about you but I used to absolutely HATE my upline telling me I had to bring guests to an event. I felt so squeamish and sleazy asking my friends’ and family to come along to a business presentation in some hotel somewhere with some guy up the front in a suit and tie. It never quite felt right to me. And yet, I understand why. There’s something about being in the room with hundreds, perhaps thousands of other distributors and feeding off their energy. Especially when you haven’t seen each other in so long. Nothing can replace that feeling. And one thing I truly love is seeing people recognized for all of their hard work. There’s something truly satisfying in seeing rewards where rewards are due – and sometimes long overdue.
I’m guessing your company has regular promotions and competitions to increase volume in your organization. And if not – they are doing it wrong! You don’t even have to rely on your company to come up with something either – you can create your own promotions and competitions to motivate your team to produce. Because fundamentally that is the entire reason they are there – to increase sales in a short period of time. Now the company may have their reasons for doing it at a particular point in time, but I don’t think there is a better opportunity to put some serious dollars in your pocket than just after an event.
I find it absolutely near on impossible to explain to others what attending an event is like – it’s something people just have to experience for themselves. Just the same as a picture doesn’t always do the landscape justice – neither does trying to explain the energy in the room at a live event. Not completely impossible – but pretty close I would say. It’s something that just has to be felt and that is the exact reason there’s always a spike in sales following a live event – people carry that energy with them for a while after they have left. And that is why companies run regular live events – it’s a bit like a mobile phone battery charger isn’t it – you have to keep plugging it in all the time and live events are just the same. The energy and motivation you have following an event doesn’t stay longer term – you have to keep plugging in.
Your job in between events is to promote attendance. That’s it! You let the company do the rest for you. Your company will present promotions and competitions in such a compelling and fun way – you simply leave it up to them to do the hard work for you. All you have to do is show up! How easy is that? More often than not the company will even do that for you! Your job is to get as many bums in seats as you possibly can. And how do you do that? You sell the idea that most speaks to your team member. For instance – if you have a wildly sociable distributor you sell them on the fun they will have when they are there and the after parties and meeting so many people etc etc. For the high achiever looking to create big results – you tell them they will have access to the top income earners and can meet them and ask them anything. It won’t really suit those who are mildly curious because they won’t have any real motivation to attend. But if you can find out what motivates your team members and speak to them in the language of what best motivates them, it won’t be a very difficult conversation.
When you build from event to event, you are building excitement, you are building commitment, you are building synergy, you are building team engagement, you are building future leaders and you are also building your front line who in turn will duplicate. What’s not to love about all of that?
